Holocaust Hoaax

Auschwitz was liberated 61 years ago, but anyone passing through Teheran this week could well have been benign to the fact. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, the Iranian president is doing his level best to erase the memory of that small Polish town.

101 offensive remarks and a seminar for Holocaust denial later, and don’t be too surprised to learn that the word on the Arab street is that the Shoah, as Elie Wiesel coined it, never happened at all.To learn more about the Holocaust hoax and the myth of the six million, Infolive.tv took to the streets of Ramallah where we asked for the Palestinian response to Yom HaShoah. The responses ranged from indifference to disbelief.

Over half of those asked were categorical in their denial; the diatribe of radical Islamic education having done the job well. One middle-aged spectacle wearing gent, told our Arab affairs reporter, "there were only 500,000 Jews in Europe at the time," and so he reasoned, quite understandably, "how could six million have been killed?"

After some careful research, you may be surprised to learn, that I for one agree with Mahmoud: the Holocaust is an episode full of lies and deceit; here are just a few choice examples.

During the round up and deportation of Jews in the Warsaw ghetto, a myth was spread among the Nazi soldiers who patrolled the city, that the Jewish cemetery of Warsaw was haunted.
A tiny number of Warsaw's 400.000 Jews survived living in and among the gravestones, creeping out of their hiding places at night to reclaim the food parcels hidden each day among the day's new corpses.

----------------------

In the first of a sea of wild lies, writer, educator Dr. Janus Korczak bravely shielded the Jewish children in his Polish orphanage from the reality of Nazi oppression.

On August 6, 1942, the date given for the children's deportation to Treblinka, he instructed the children to pack a small bag and prepare for a picnic outing; the children did so and their spirits were lifted. Shortly after the group arrived at Treblinka, Korczak allayed the group's rising fears as they lined up to have their hair and clothes removed. Later that day in one final bid to spare them from fear, he led the children in a song as they marched to their death.

Janus Korzcak was not the only liar of the Holocaust, he is joined by thousands of others who lived and died through those terrible years.

I'm doubtful whether the Iranian President was referring to these or similar incidents in his Yom HaShoah offensive last week, but either way I thank him for jogging my mind.

A brief glance towards the radical Islamic regimes across the Mid East and beyond, and at the state of the societies therein, reveals a world of intolerance, repression and wicked cruelty. What irony that the societies who deny the Holocaust most, are those with the most to learn from its unceasing call to human morality.

As we mark 61 years since the liberation of Auschwitz, with our own Persian Hitler not so far away, the importance of perpetuating the memory of the Holocaust only grows stronger.

Lefties Wake Up?

It has come to my attention that there may be some lefties on this planet who aren’t entirely blind. The ‘Euston Manifesto’ states amongst other things that they ‘decline to make excuses for, to indulgently ‘understand’, reactionary regimes and movements for which democracy is a hated enemy — regimes that oppress their own peoples and movements that aspire to do so’. Regarding human rights ‘We reject the double standards with which much self-proclaimed progressive opinion now operates’ and most promisingly ‘reject without qualification the anti-Americanism now infecting so much left-liberal (and some conservative) thinking’. Their recognition that some lefty groups ‘conceal prejudice against the Jewish people behind the formula of ‘anti-Zionism’ is also another positive. To view the statement see www.eustonmanifesto.org

Hamas, Jordan and the Prophetic Skills of the Cantankerous Camel

As predicted by the Cantankerous Camel in one of my more sombre and depressing posts, the beginnings of Hamas’ attempts to conquer Jordan have already begun. As the Jerusalem Post reports, Hamas has been trying to smuggle bombs and rockets into the country in order to re-unify the Yehudah and Shomron (the West Bank) with the Transjordanian part of "Palestine". The suspects arrested by Jordanian security services admitted that they were targeting senior members of the ruling Hashemite regime. Once they’ve succeeded in seizing control of Jordan all that will be left to achieve is the conquest of that thin sliver of land that comprises the last piece of “historic Palestine”, currently ruled by the “Zionist Crusaders”. Pessimistic I may be, wrong I’m not. I'd brag a bit about my astute political acumen if it wasn't so bloody scary.

And the Winner is...

Before I forget, let me announce the winner of the last caption competition. It is...drum roll...Kalman Rushdie (Tah Dah) for the caption “Publicity poster for the new gay Muslim film, Brokeback Mullahs, now playing at Shi'ite mosques between the river and the sea”. Most amusing. May I suggest you check out Kalman’s blog, "Turning the Tide", also linked at right. Let it not go unnoticed David Preston’s valiant (and repeated) attempts to triumph in this prestigious competition. I particularly enjoyed his "I want you to lick my ear" quip. The similarity between David and Adam’s humour is also interesting. Sadly, Adam’s efforts to carry off a hatrick were doomed when the genius of Mr. Rushdie was revealed. Congratulations Mr. Rushdie, let us hope the bestowal of this renowned award does not draw undue attention to you and elicit any new fatwas!

Don't fret, the Cantankerous Camel Lives and Breathes

Ok, before the Punctilious Penguin entirely subverts this blog into one big look-a-like festival I thought I’d put up a post or two just to show you all that I’m still live and kicking.

So, I know I haven’t posted in a while and the truth is I really couldn’t think of anything I wanted to write about. Now, I know there’s a whole bunch of things that have been going on in world affairs to get my teeth into recently, bombs in Sinai, Mrs Blair spending lots of money on getting her hair cut, Ahmadinejad ribbitting on about Jews going back to Europe, riots in Nepal, Hu Jintao visiting America, Everton failing to score for the fourth straight match in a row and so on. It’s just I didn’t think any of these things really departed enough from the norm, from what we all are used to and expect, to warrant writing about. Callous as this may sound, who is surprised when a bomb blows up in a holiday resort in Sinai, aren’t we all a bit bored of Ahmadinejad’s continual anti-Semitic and genocidal rants? I say this with utter respect to the victims, but I even exclude the suicide bombing in Tel Aviv last week from matters worth blogging about, since who is surprised by Palestinian terrorists killing Israeli civilians? You can read about this stuff in the newspapers, there’s no need for me to add my two ha'p'orth? (There is one issue in that bombing that is worth mentioning, i.e. that the Palestinian Authority defended the attack calling it an act of self-defence. This is a first for the Palestinian Authority which, complicit as it may have been in terrorism in the past, never publicly defended terrorist attacks.) Anyway, I have now thought of a couple of things which I think are worthwhile mentioning so some new musings will shortly be appearing. Watch this space.

P.S. If there’s ever anything anyone feels I should mention then feel free to leave a comment somewhere on the blog and I’ll be alerted. Ditto the past few weeks.

Retired Mossad Boss Still Under Cover?

Former mossad boss Rafi Eitan has a get-away plan should his new Knesset posting prove unsuccessful, he'll just call up Ronnie Corbet and continue his double life in Britain.

Ehud Olmert and Stan Laurel, both played second fiddle to much larger leading men; and they do share an uncanny resemblance, wouldn't you agree?

The Palestinian-Lebanese-Syrian-Iranian Terrorism Nexus

In an interview, published in the German newspaper Welt am Sonntag on March 6, Zakaria Zubeidi, chief of the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades in Jenin, stated “without the assistance of our Hezbollah brothers we would not have been able to persist with our struggle…they [Hezbollah] give us funds, arms, training, and support.” Zubeidi added, “We coordinate our operations with them”.

Hizballah, the Shi‘a Islamist terrorist group based in southern Lebanon, is sponsored and funded by its co-religionist Shi‘a brothers in Iran. Iran’s fellow Islamic outcast allies, the Alawī regime in Damascus channels the funds through to Hizballah who, when they’re not launching Katyushas at northern Israel or attempting to kidnap Israeli soldiers, spend their time providing money, weapons and organizational expertise to Fatah’s al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. It’s all one big happy family isn’t it? (Hat tip: imra.org)

The Punctilious Penguin Has Landed

As you can see below, the Punctilious Penguin has introduced him/her/itself to these hallowed pages. I'm sure everyone will extend every courtesy to him/her/it as you so kindly do for me, and will comment in abundance on his/her/its most witty, droll, poignant, philosophical and astute posts. Sadly, he/she/it seems to have spelt his/her/its name wrong. So much for Omega-3s.

PLESE READ THIS POST - Palestinian Suicide Bombers Unababted

If anyone thinks Palestinian terrorism is waning, think again. After reading just a couple of days ago of the apprehension of a suicide bomber in Shechem (Nablus) I thought that I must have glanced at loads of these types of articles in the past few weeks, it's just that when an attack is thwarted these incidents seem to quickly fade from your memory. I did a check just now and found that in the last month alone over ten suicide bombings have been prevented by Israeli security services, a couple actually inside Israel. Lest you doubt me, here's the list, you can check for yourselves.

In February a double suicide bombing was prevented when soldiers arrested two kids at checkpoint outside Shechem carrying suicide bomb belts.

At the beginning of March, two Palestinians terrorists were arrested by the Shin Bet at the Erez crossing from Gaza to Israel planning to carry out an attack.

On 21 March, a van containing ten Palestinians and 5-7kg of explosives packed with shrapnel was being driven by an East Jerusalem resident towards the Tel Aviv area. The van was halted between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv after high-speed chase. Incidentally, a friend of mine was caught in the ensuing traffic jam.

On 22 March the IDF caught another potential suicide bomber in Ramallah. The bomber was arrested with two accomplices, all three were members of the Fatah Tanzim terorist group.

On 29 March, the IDF captured an 18-year-old Palestinian suicide bomber wearing an explosive belt at the Beka'ot roadblock in the Jordan Valley.

A double suicide bombing was prevented on 2 April when two terrorist suspects were caught in Bet Shean (a town in northern Israel). On the same day another Palestinian was caught with 4kg of explosives just south of Shechem.

Today, 5th of April, a man and a woman were arrested in Shechem and in the nearby town of Bil'in, respectively, under suspicion that they agreed to commit a suicide bombing against Israelis.

Tragically, on 30 March one of these attacks finally succeeded after some kind people gave a hitch-hiker a lift outside the Kedumim settlement. Sadly, the hitch-hiker turned out to be a mass-murderer connected to Fatah and he killed four people including a 16 year old and 19 year old.

That’s eleven, repeat eleven, thwarted suicide bombings from late February to early April, and one successfully carried out. This is what Israelis face the entire time. It is due to the constant vigilance and utter professionalism of the IDF, as well as the efficacy of the security fence, that Israelis aren’t being blown to smithereens every day like they were back in 2002 and 2003. If it seems quiet, it’s because you are not an Israeli soldier serving in Jenin, Ramallah, Beit Lechem or Shechem.

"He Who blessed our forefathers Abraham, Isaac and Jacob - may He bless the fighters of the Israel Defence Force, who stand guard over our land and the cities of our God from the border of the Lebanon to the desert of Egypt, and from the Great Sea unto the approach of the Aravah, on the land, in the air, and on the sea..."

The Merits of Unilateralism

On March 29, Palestinians fired Katyusha rockets into Israel for the first time. The Katyusha was smuggled into Gaza from Egypt, made possbile since Israel lost control over the border after its unilateral retrea...I mean withdrawal from the Gaza strip last summer. Actually, the word "smuggled" is a bit extreme since the Gazan border is more porous than Everton's defence since the unilateral withdrawal.

Katyusha's have a range of up to 30km and were the rockets that Hizballah rained down on northern Israel for years and caused the communities there endless misery. Residents of Ashkelon can now look forward to similar treatment and strategic facilities such as the Ashkelon power station are now within range of Palestinian missiles.

Abu Adallah, a spokesman for Islamic Jihad who fired the rocket, said "These rockets, God willing, will be the reason for liberating the villages adjacent to the Gaza Strip," (emphasis added) and added that the terrorist group was now studying the rockets to produce their own domestically produced versions.

Go Unilateralism!

Caption Competition iii

I think there's probably quite a lot of mileage in this one!!! (Hat tip: Adam)

(For anyone who can't quite make it out (unlike Mahmoud here) the picture is of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejed and...friend? Happy captioning.

While we're on the topic, Adam wins the last caption competition, firstly because his caption was bloody funny and secondly because only three people entered so the competition wasn't that fierce (sorry Dad). He's also got some good ideas for this picture too, so to stop it becoming a one-man-show I'm appealing to all you budding comedians and David Preston to pull out all the stops and stop Adam from making it a hatrick.

Ok, I'll get things going.
