The Merits of Unilateralism

On March 29, Palestinians fired Katyusha rockets into Israel for the first time. The Katyusha was smuggled into Gaza from Egypt, made possbile since Israel lost control over the border after its unilateral retrea...I mean withdrawal from the Gaza strip last summer. Actually, the word "smuggled" is a bit extreme since the Gazan border is more porous than Everton's defence since the unilateral withdrawal.

Katyusha's have a range of up to 30km and were the rockets that Hizballah rained down on northern Israel for years and caused the communities there endless misery. Residents of Ashkelon can now look forward to similar treatment and strategic facilities such as the Ashkelon power station are now within range of Palestinian missiles.

Abu Adallah, a spokesman for Islamic Jihad who fired the rocket, said "These rockets, God willing, will be the reason for liberating the villages adjacent to the Gaza Strip," (emphasis added) and added that the terrorist group was now studying the rockets to produce their own domestically produced versions.

Go Unilateralism!
