Lefties Wake Up?

It has come to my attention that there may be some lefties on this planet who aren’t entirely blind. The ‘Euston Manifesto’ states amongst other things that they ‘decline to make excuses for, to indulgently ‘understand’, reactionary regimes and movements for which democracy is a hated enemy — regimes that oppress their own peoples and movements that aspire to do so’. Regarding human rights ‘We reject the double standards with which much self-proclaimed progressive opinion now operates’ and most promisingly ‘reject without qualification the anti-Americanism now infecting so much left-liberal (and some conservative) thinking’. Their recognition that some lefty groups ‘conceal prejudice against the Jewish people behind the formula of ‘anti-Zionism’ is also another positive. To view the statement see www.eustonmanifesto.org
