New Somali ‘Taliban’ Whip People for Smoking Pot

The new Islamist regime, the Supreme Islamic Courts Council, controlling Mogadishu and other areas of Somalia is living up to its fundamentalist image and is whipping people for various crimes, smoking pot among them. The Supreme Islamic Courts Council, formerly know as the Islamic Courts Union, has documented links to al-Qaida. It has been sheltering three people wanted by the U.S. in connection to the 1998 U.S. embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam and several key figures of the regime are wanted themselves in relation to international terrorist activities.
